THERE ARE FIVE THINGS YOUR CABLE COMPANY WON'T TELL YOU IN THEIR ADS!
1) For all of the criticism of satellite's signal outages due to rain/snow fade, the fact remains that your cable company receives its signal from satellite! There are occassions when it rains or snows really hard where you might incur some signal loss, but this is rare and only lasts about a minute (and less than 0.01 % of the time). Cable has the same outages because they use a satellite to receive their signal, but they ALSO send that signal through miles of wire. Thus, there is an even greater chance of an outage of your cable due to the miles of susceptible wire they use. Consumer Reports and asktheexperts.org will independently verify this. |
2) Satellite offers hi-quality digital reception on ALL of its channels with 99.8% guaranteed clarity. Even "Digital" cable still provides about half of its channels on an often-fuzzy analog signal. Also, a "Digital" cable box is about twice the size of our receivers. |
3) Cable prices have been on a continuing upward spiral since cable companies began investing billions of dollars on hi-speed internet, phone service, & digital TV. Cable companies, then, falsely blame TV programming stations. Dish has always been all-digital and has recently decreased prices for 3 and 4 room systems. Most TV programming packages offered on satellite cost you less for more channels, more features (like the DVR, HD-DVR, 7-day TV guide, Instant Weather & Sports), and better service. Cable companies bundle together their hi-speed internet with their TV service and pretend that that they are saving you money.
